3.The product application
(1)In the application of permanent magnet materials: because of samarium atoms spin and orbital moments of moment of magnetic moment has good effect, can produce a variety of magnetism performance, so it can be made into samarium rare earth permanent magnet materials.
(2)Application of steel and iron: samarium can be used as a purifying agent in the process of steelmaking and iron making. Desulphurization and desulphurization are used to generate Sm2O3 and SmS into slag to improve the performance of steel and iron.
(3)Application in nonferrous metals: after adding samarium to cast aluminum alloy, it has metamorphic effect on alloy. It can reduce the content of oxygen, sulfur and hydrogen, thus improving the strength of alloy, elongation, thermal stability, corrosion resistance, casting properties and plasticity, so as to make alloy more available.
(4)Application in the atomic energy industry: samarium can be made into rods to control thermal neutron content in the reactor, and the absorption of thermal neutrons can regulate the splitting speed of atoms. In addition, the samarium oxide(Sm2O3)can be used in the components of the ceramic protective layer on the nuclear reactor, or in control of nuclear reactions in the atomic boiler. |
